Hopetown Darlington Trip

Lesson: Learning Outside the Classroom

Class: Lower School Year: 2024 - 2025

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic trip to Hopetown Railway museum in Darlington on Wednesday 12th March. We had a short bus journey to Darlington where we were welcomed at Hopetown museum. After a short safety talk we were taken to store our bags and then it was straight into a workshop for KS1 whilst KS2 had an hour to explore the museum.

The workshop involved learning about the history of steam trains and how they were invented. The children had time to immerse themselves in role play whilst they explored the museum and enjoyed sketching some of the impressive steam trains that we saw. After a fantastic packed lunch provided by school we all headed outside for an epic adventure on the ginormous playground. We were so lucky with the weather and the children loved the outdoor play session.

We then made our way back to the bus and had a relaxing journey back to Warcop.
Enjoy looking through our pictures, the children (and staff) had such a wonderful time.
